VIEW NO. 1-3
Photography

Digital Photography & Model Space, 2022

“It is the change of perspective when looking out of the
window that Pia Pospischil's photographic views of space
refer to. In View No.1-3, the artist stages the unlikely
encounter of two actually separate realities as a multi-layered
interaction of reality and construction. In this interrelationship,
the architecture represents the generic stage space for
what takes place outside. Through the absence of humans
in Pospischil's photographs, the viewers become voyeurs
in the private world of those inhabitants and are inevitably
confronted with the question of their identity. A view
through the window, which in its effect could also be a
mirror or picture frame, breaks with this first reality and
shows the contrast to the outside world. Initially
corresponding to an apparent reality, the pictorial levels
enter into an increasingly unreal relationship with each other.
With the dialogue of these levels, the artist questions the
juxtaposition of reality and constructed reality.”
